Super-Grow has been operating since 2004 and has been importing small lots of supplies an estimated 40 times with very little problems and has continued to grow and attract world-wide customers. Sadly, since January 22, 2010 Super-Grow has been threatened with government action that will force it to shut down. I received a telephone call from a government employee advising me that his department is charged with working with Customs Canada; that they had made an estimated 40 consecutive mistakes in letting in the products (really, that many?) and that I was now required to get very expensive licenses and permits that cost more than the products I sell. This is obviously a ridiculous situation than can only result in shutting down my small business. You can help by writing to the Ministry of Agriculture.

Instructions

The NAA powder must first be dissolved, then diluted.

Dissolving NAA

NAA is a powder that must first be dissolved. This type of NAA will not dissolve in water. Using the 1/32 spoon that is included with every order we placed 1 spoonful in each of several containers and tested dissolving it with different liquids.

Water

This NAA will not dissolve in water.

Alcohol

NAA will dissolve in different types of alcohols, and we tested the following.

Isopropyl Alcohol (Rubbing Alcohol)

Isopropyl alcohol is rubbing alcohol; we dissolved the spoon content in 1/2 teaspoon 70% alcohol.

Methanol - Methyl Hydrate

1/2 teaspoon of methanol also dissolved the scoop of NAA. We used 99.9% methanol but I would be sure that lower purity would be successful.

Ammonia

Using clear ammonia we dissolved the scoop of NAA with 1/2 teaspoon of clear ammonia. We also were able to dissolve it with a solution of 1/2 teaspoon of clear ammonia and 1/2 teaspoon of water. Best to use the weaker ammonia mix with water.

As far as the effect that ammonia has on plants keep in mind that ammonia is also a fertilizer. Just make sure that the ammonia does not contain other stuff. Also, the ammonia evaporates quite quickly.

Diluting NAA

First, don't add the water to the dissolved NAA. Put the water in a large container and then pour the dissolved NAA into the water. Second, stir the water and slowly pour the dissolved NAA into the water.

Diluting means mixing the dissolved NAA with water. To figure out how much water and NAA powder to mix please use the PPM (Parts-Per-Million) tables below. There are four sets of tables: one for powder that is 0.065 grams; one for powder that is 0.045 grams; one for powder that is 0.051 grams per scoop and the other 0.037 grams per scoop. The sheet that came with your order shows you which one you have.

1. How Does NAA Affect Root Development?

In an experiment 1 on date palms the effects of IAA,IBA and NAA was tested. The notable conclusion of the experiment was that on these existing roots NAA 50 PPM and 100 PPM promoted growth while IBA slowed it down.
