User Feedback

I applied 30 ppm of GrowTonic on grass that had been newly planted but light greeen and spindly. After only about 4 days the new growth that came up was darker and thicker. - Janet, August 5 2005

The Rose is one of the oldest and best-known flowers, with the oldest fossil being 35 million years old. There are over 150 rose species. Like all plants the rose has natural levels of different hormones that regulates seed germination, root development, flowering and much more. By learning how to use these substances growers can get the best results from their rose gardens.

Flowering

Gibberellic Acid

The use of a foliar spray of 120 PPM concentration of Gibberellic Acid will increase the number of flowers and longer stems on roses. [www.personal.psu.edu/students/c/e/cem256/PGRPaper.htm]

Growth

Gibberellic Acid

I sprayed a rose plant that was dormant and had only about 4 sets of leaves with Gibberellic Acid (GA3) 650 PPM and it grew about 10 inches of new winter growth!! Amazing! [Kevin, April 2006]

One scoop of Water Soluble GA3 Powder 20% will make 1.25 ounces of 650 PPM solution at a cost of US$0.17 or less.

Triacontanol

I bought 2 grams of Triacontanol 62% Pure.

I grow roses and have been using UltraBoost from a company called Primary Products. From what I have read, Ultraboost uses Triacontanol, so I figured I would try and make my own.

I bought 5 American Beauty roses all around the same size and health. I mixed several batches of the solution, 2 ppm, 10 ppm, 25 ppm and 100 ppm. I labeled each rose bush accordingly including one using the UltraBoost. The 25 ppm and 100 ppm bushes did the best, almost identical. So it appears in my small experiment 25 ppm is the way to go. No use using 100 ppm if the results are the same. Anyway, the surprise was that the 25ppm and 100ppm bushes over a weeks time actually doubled the size of new growth of the bush using UltaBoost. Go figure. - D.L., Sunnyvale Texas - May 23, 2005

Transplanting

IBA

When transplanting rose bushes soaking the roots for ten minutes in IBA at 150 ppm will help root growth and lessen transplant root damage. [www.personal.psu.edu/students/c/e/cem256/PGRPaper.htm]
